My published work

I write narrative non-fiction that explores trauma, restorative justice, spirituality, and inner transformation. My work combines close observation with psychological insight, tracing what happens when power, pain, and conscience meet. Across magazine features, essays, and my memoir Meeting Shiva: Falling and Rising in Love in the Indian Himalayas, I draw on lived experience to tell stories that invite honesty, courage, and change.

Feature Articles

I am a writer whose work explores trauma, restorative justice, spirituality, and inner transformation. I am drawn to moments where power, suffering, and conscience meet, and to the quiet shifts that occur when people are asked to reckon with themselves.

My writing is grounded in both lived experience and formal study. I have a background in psychology and have pursued training in trauma-informed and restorative approaches, alongside years of reflective practice. This academic grounding has shaped how I listen, observe, and write, particularly when engaging with complex inner lives and ethically charged environments.

Years spent in India immersed in spiritual traditions, alongside work within prison systems, have further deepened my understanding of freedom, responsibility, and the conditions under which change becomes possible. These environments, though outwardly different, revealed the same human questions: how we live with what we have done, what we have endured, and what we still hope to repair.

Earlier in my career, I worked as an editor for magazines and was shaped by writers who dared to take inner life seriously. Today, my work spans narrative journalism, essays, and memoir. I write about restorative justice, healing, masculinity, and the human capacity for change, particularly in high-pressure or morally complex settings. My writing combines psychological insight with close observation, grounded in real lives rather than abstraction.

My work has appeared in magazines and online publications, and in my memoir Meeting Shiva: Falling and Rising in Love in the Indian Himalayas, which is currently in film development.

English Writings

Although many of my publications appear in German magazines, English has always been my main writing language — the one in which I think, feel, and create most naturally. In English, I explore spirituality, transformation, and the deeper threads that connect inner and outer journeys.

Below you’ll find a few selected pieces and an excerpt from Meeting Shiva – Falling and Rising in Love in the Indian Himalayas.

Meeting Shiva

Falling and Rising in Love in the Indian Himalayas (Original English Edition)

Mein Weg von der Liebe ins Erwachen (German Translation)

My first book, Meeting Shiva: Falling and Rising in Love in the Indian Himalayas, was published under my given name Tiziana Stupia.

Book Review by author Nimue Brown:

Meeting Shiva could most succinctly be described as a spiritual autobiography, but it is many things. I’m usually totally turned off by anything that suggests ‘how I found enlightenment’ or ‘my personal tale of growth and redemption’ but this is a beautiful and inspiring book, and not at all what you might expect from spiritual autobiography as a genre. It helps that nothing about it suggests that this is one of those tales of magical transformation with a subtext that you too could have a perfect life if only you managed to be as good as the author. Rather than dangling impossible carrots out the reader’s reach, what Tiziana Stupia offers is a profoundly feet-of-clay story about real emotions, real turmoil and the on-going quest for healing. There are no magical solutions, no all-knowing mystic gurus, nothing smug. Instead there is a courageous degree of honesty, and a story through which many people may be able to reflect productively on their own experiences. (read more)
